Before the kirtan began, Ambikananda prostrated himself before the GSR banner while Raja Ram’s flute echoed across the valley. Devotees danced on the patio as the kirtan got underway with a lovely bhajan to Kali from Marian.

Next, Mahayogini sang: ‘Shiva the Great God is dancing…’,

followed by Shiva Shakti’s song to Vishnu Narayan and his consort:
‘Narayana Narayani’;

and now everyone was dancing, led by Ambikananda. Then Sati sang some of her songs, including (from GSR)
‘Cherish my precious Mother Shyama tenderly within, O mind.’

Now devotees assembled, from the youngest to the oldest, around Swamiji under the GSR banner, high up the green hill beside the house. Everyone was there,. Steve prepared to photograph them, to capture a historic moment in the story of the Universal Independent Ashram

Devotees then sang music led by Raja Ram, Hari Om and others.

Hari Om sang to Krishna – To Thee do I come for Salvation from the ocean of existence

Swamiji read from Universal Prayers: “May there be peace in the world…” with devotees’ Om chanting

Swamiji said: ‘OM means all existence, all knowledge, all bliss. A for Creator, U for Preserver, M for Destroyer. A is put in the navel, U on the throat, M the bindu dot on tip of the tongue, then back to the heart in the form of a flame. Let there be love in our being, our spirit. AUM chanted 21 times purifies the mind, intellect, senses, feeling, touch, the 24 cosmic principles, feeling, practical, causal. When the subtle body is cleaned you can attract. Brain is darkness, brain scattered is useless energy. People have got so much energy about hundreds of useless things, temporal evanescence. But it’s all right if you can have this with dual consciousness. – then you fence like King Janaka with two swords, and eat, drink and make merry here.

So we will read the teaching of Sri Ramakrishna, page 149:
[reads:] “Brahmo devotee: ‘Sir, why are there so many different opinions about the nature of God? Some say that God has form, while others say that He is formless. Again, those who speak of God with form tell us about His different forms. Why all this controversy?’ “Master: ‘A devotee thinks of God as he sees Him. In reality there is no confusion about God. God explains all this to the devotee if the devotee only realizes Him somehow. You haven’t set your foot in that direction. How can you expect to know all about God?… ‘He who constantly thinks of God can know His real nature; he alone knows that God reveals Himself to seekers in various forms and aspects. God has attributes; then again He has none… Kabir used to say, The formless Absolute is my Father, and God with form is my Mother. ‘God reveals Himself in the form which His devotee loves most. His love for the devotee knows no bounds. It is written in the Purana that God assumed the form of Rama for His heroic devotee, Hanuman. If your prayer comes from the bottom of your heart, my Mother will respond to it…’

Then Swamiji suddenly stopped, closed the GSR, and started to recite the Lord’s Prayer, urging the devotees to follow.
‘Jesus taught this prayer to the world, which is done in heaven,’ he said. ‘He is present here, that is why I have stopped this reading of GSR. But you don’t see Him… ‘Impersonal becomes personal, individual, for selected devotees, chosen. Ramakrishna chose Naren, Bhavanath, Bose, Baburam, Rakhal, isn’t it? So these prayers, this prayer has been recorded here, an angel comes and takes it. If you don’t believe in God of course you will not believe in angels, but what is is, whether you believe or not. God is. Something about God is happening here, whether some other people outside believe it or not. Like you have been videoing and taping, it could be angel take all this and give it to people. You have had plenty singing all day long, plenty food, you have got human body, you have worshipped Ra-Ra-Ra-Ramakrishna, Sa-Sa-Sa-Sarada Devi. These alphabetic mantras are placed in the subtle body if you go further and further, known as kundalini petal lotus chakras… ‘When you leave the south plane of eat-drink-make merry you go in the north planse of the Himalayan mountain, then you are advancing towards the heat of suction, vacuum, transcending space and time. You may stay here but you are not here. It is possible. God is here and also somewhere else. It is also possible for you to be here and somewhere else. Because it is not you. When you do not exist somebody else is everywhere in you. Your soul and mind and – there is no sex in Atman, sexless.

Here there is man, woman, attraction and distraction, and deviation. ‘So truth is God, always speak the truth. Angel takes that, gives it to these beggars in Hell. “Hail Mary.” Saturday, today, is Mary’s day. “Hail Mary full of grace” – you need the grace of God, you need this human body.

Other people when they were on earthplane, they didn’t do all this, they had a human body, they had chance to withdraw from the activities of the world, give a minute to God – they didn’t do it. They wanted the pleasures of the flesh, name, fame, power, greed, artificial writing, rubbish, not true, just for earning, temporal. ‘This prayer is taken and brought to alleviate suffering in hell. Fire burns, it’s terrible suffering, so these voluntary people here, free, are dedicating, consecrating their time for somebody else. And this also was televised in different sphere.
‘Vision can cause distraction if you cannot interpret correctly. “Greater than the vision is interpretation of the vision.” Truth is the talker, truth is the word, the bubbling word of God. God wants to sprout in a clean mouth, first he will manifest in a truthful mouth. There are false yogis, there are evil powers also, sexual power – kundalini can cause sexual power that has to be controlled. Many fall, the path is very slippery. It’s my department, my responsibility. If I let you fall, I will have to suffer as well. Truth hurts. I’ve been bearing it, You have been hurting me a lot before. I’ve been respecting all your time, now please respect this time. You have made so much effort to come, now please benefit, please go with something beneficial. Body, mind and soul have to be in unison. Truth will conquer at the end,
‘Knowledge is the light of darkness, but God doesn’t like too much talk, too much “knowledge”. Such knowledge is only good for people who have not attained. I am physically not well, but I am spiritually full, and I am saying hullo to you over and over, and my hand dispels darkness from your life. I only give you a helpful hand in your life. But who is the real doer? God alone, sympathy divine, so help others, love others. If it’s too heavy in your mind, I’ll take it mentally, alleviate it.’
‘We are a retarded receiver of His answer. Only when we are ready we get it properly correct, isn’t that so? There are many ways, but it’s very wearing, mind gets heated, and that much worry is not for me. My main worry is light to dispel darkness. Now this has answered every individual, this light will dispel it, this light is universal, paramount. Everybody doesn’t need their own light to light the room.
Once the room is lit everyone can see, isn’t it? So let there be light, let there be peace, let there be light. Think of light, meditate on light, and share light. ‘If I am not in the body, it is heart that I am giving. Man is a mantra, a symbol, a yantra, a mudra, a pin of hair in the cosmos. And God makes it possible.’

Later, around the fire with the devotees. Swamiji said:
‘As you think, so God becomes in you. This is the preparation state of the cosmic evolution of the soul. The patron of the yogis is Lord Shiva. All knowledge comes from Lord Shiva. Nothing exists but that thing. There is nothing to be said. But this is a personal experience…Sleep has to be awakened. Energy has to learn how to cry to God. You have so much energy, and yet you have no gut to cry, no power. Energy has not been taught how to cry. Energy has been dissipated. Too much energy wasted in chitchatting, talking. You are a great ananda of Chitchatananda. You are not
conscious. You are chitchatananda gossipers.
‘Man is not appreciative. He has to learn to appreciate time, place, environment, circumstances, pain. When the world is in pain the man has to suffer. The nonsuffering man has to learn to suffer with others, and has to love that suffering. He cannot be exempt all the time. Therefore he is in pain with the others. He says, “I am not exempt, I am in the same boat, I am travelling in the same boat.” Which means, the world is like a boat. We are just passengers. Among passengers you are lucky to have a cabin reserved for you in a certain department. You may be firstclass people to call on God. That’s why you have preserved this place here, 40 feet of land you have got for you to move about, for your austerity, spiritual development on earthplane. For it is a plane, this earth is a spaceship. This place is a boat in the ocean of the world. You are only pilgrims here, passengers. And I saw it. … I gave you that, I guarantee even the Christianity side which you have not fully touched. We are Hindus, but see how many times Jesus came. He said, “Where two or three are gathered in My name there am I in the midst of them.” that was His word. And yet it was a Hindu programme. And Sri Ramakrishna said:”Any name and form of God just come: it’s immaterial – Krishna, Kali…” We were just reading earlier (GSR p.150). I am not inventing. Invention and truth are two things. We deal with Ananda, we swim in Ananda’s consciousness. And Ananda Himself comes to clarify.
